Art Journaling with Watercolour
I love this art journal entry. One of my favourite things to do is to geek out on historical dramas and biopics, and of one the recent ones that I watched was the one about the Romanovs on Netflix. I suppose you can say that this art journal entry was inspired by the show- inspiration struck at the right time!
In the process of creating this journal entry, coincidentally, I found an old Reader's Digest story about Tsar Nicholas and his wife. It was a beautiful poem that the Tsar wrote to his Tsarina. I used it as a little collage piece to embellish the painting.
I painted this piece during my 2-week stay in Manila, The Philippines. I was accompanying my husband who participated at a Poker tournament at that time. I travelled with my art supplies and art journal to keep myself occupied- but also because I know that I wont be able to go anywhere without it. As I often say to many people, my journal is an extension of me.
This art journal page spread was painted with gouache, watercolour and a drawing pen for details on a 110gsm recycled paper.
Most of your art journal inserts are made out of recycled paper, and I usually go for the affordable ones.
For the watercolour, I used a basic Sakura travel watercolour palette and some basic brushes that I purchased from a local stationery store in Manila.
